욱일기는 일본 군대의 깃발이며 일본 제국주의의 침략전쟁의 상징임에도 불구하고 일본정부는 최근 2020년 도쿄올림픽 때 욱일기 응원을 허용하겠다고 발표했습니다.
2019년 9월, 2020 도쿄올림픽 및 패럴림픽 조직위원회는 "욱일기가 일본에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있고 정치적 주장을 담고 있지 않아 금지 품목으로 간주하지 않는다"고 발표했습니다.
또한 일본 정부 올림픽 장관인 하시모토 세이코 장관도
2020년 도쿄올림픽에서 욱일기 사용을 허용하겠다는 발표했습니다.

바로 1936년 베를린 올림픽입니다
나치 히틀러는 1936년 베를린 올림픽을 통해 아리아 인종의 육체적 우월성을 전세계에 알려 독일 나찌가 전세계를 지배해는 것은 당연하다는 논리를 세계에 전파하고자 했습니다.
나찌는 자신들의 인종차별과 군국주의에 대한 면죄부를 받고자했으며 베를린 올림픽을 주변 나라 침략을 합리화하는 정치적 선전장으로 이용했습니다.
세계인들은 올림픽 역사상 가장 수치스로운 올림픽으로
올림픽을 정치적 선전 목적으로 이용한 독일 베를린 올림픽을 떠오릅니다.
그리고 1936년 베를린올림픽 역사의 현장엔 나치 군국주의 상징인 하켄크로이츠가 있었습니다.

일본정부가 최근 2020년 도쿄올림픽 때 욱일기 응원을 허용하겠다고 발표했습니다.
2020 도쿄올림픽 및 패럴림픽 조직위원회는
2019년 9월 "욱일기가 일본에서 광범위하게 사용되고 있고 정치적 주장을 담고 있지 않아 금지 품목으로 간주하지 않는다"고 발표했습니다.
또한 일본 정부 올림픽 장관인 하시모토 세이코 장관도
2020년 도쿄올림픽에서 욱일기 사용을 허용하겠다는 발표했습니다.
하지만 욱일기는 일본 군대의 깃발이며
욱일기는 일본 제국주의의 침략전쟁에 상징입니다
100년전 일본 제국주의의 침략으로 인해 고통당했던 한국, 중국등 아시아인들에게 일본 욱일기는 나찌의 군국주의 상징인 하켄크로이츠와 같습니다

1941~1945년 일본이 아시아 국가들을 침략한 태평양 전쟁까지!
일본 군대는 욱일기를 선봉에 달고 한국, 중국, 동남아등 아시아 국가들을 침략했습니다
특히, 일본 제국주의는 1910년과 1945년까지 한국을 강제로 식민지하면서 한반도 전체를 감옥으로 만들었으며 한국인의 독립 의지를 말살하기 위해 고문, 살인을 일삼았습니다.
일본 제국주의는 한반도의 인적·물적 자원을 수탈하고
한국의 언어와 문화를 짓밟아 크게 훼손시켰습니다.
일본 제국주의는 한국 침략을 넘어 아시아 태평양 전역으로 전쟁을 확대했으며
수많은 전쟁범죄와 살인, 고문, 성노예, 강간, 테러, 착취, 인권 유린을 일삼았습니다.
일본의 제국주의 침략전쟁으로 아시아에서 약 2000만 명 이상이 죽었습니다.
일본 욱일기는 바로 이러한 일본 제국주의가 벌인 침략전쟁 때 사용한 군기입니다.
따라서 한국 등 아시아인들에게는 욱일기는 나치의 하켄크로이츠와 같은 전범기입니다
프랑스, 폴란드 등 2차 세계대전 당시 독일 나치에 의해 침략당한 유럽 국가에서 나치의 문양 하켄크로이츠를 사용하는 것은 법으로 금지되어 있습니다.
유럽 국가들은 유럽에서 나치의 문양 하켄크로이츠를 사용하는 것을 법으로 금지하며 만약 이를 위반할 경우 강력히 처벌합니다.
하지만 나치 독일을 완벽하게 청산한 독일과 다르게
같은 제국주의 침략전쟁을 일으킨 일본의 완벽한 청산은 이루어지지 않았습니다.
일본은 패전 후에도 욱일기를 일본 군대의 깃발로 사용하고 있습니다.
1954년 일본 육상, 해상 자위대는 욱일기를 군기로 제정했습니다
일본정부가 침략전쟁에 대한
진정한 사과와 책임있는 행동을 하지 않는 상태에서
욱일기를 사용하는것에 대해 수많은 한국인들은 분노하고 있습니다
무엇보다 일본정부는 2020년 도쿄 올림픽에서 욱일기를 사용하고자 하고 있습니다.
만약, 2020년 독일에서 올림픽이 개최된다고 가정했을때,
독일이 올림픽 행사장에서 1936년 베를린 올림픽때 나치가 사용한 하켄크로이츠 깃발을 휘날리는 것을 허락한다고 국제사회에 발표한다면
제2차 세계대전 중 나치 독일이 자행한 대학살, 생체실험등의 피해를 받은 유럽 국가 국민들의 심정은 어떨까요?
과거 나찌의 하켄크로이츠 깃발아래 고통받았던 세계인들은 어떤 반응을 보일까요?
일본정부과 2020년 도쿄 올림픽때 욱일기를 사용한다고 발표했을때 느끼는 한국인의 충격과 분노가 바로 그것입니다.
일본 정부는 일본 욱일기가 침략 전쟁범죄를 수행하는 과정에서 이용된 군국주의 깃발이란 사실을 은폐하고 있습니다.
하켄크로이츠가 유럽인들에게 극단적인 전체주의인 파시즘을 대표하듯이
욱일기또한 일본이 제국주의를 실현하는 과정에서 사용된 극단적인 파시즘의 상징입니다.
따라서 일본정부가 2020년 도쿄 올림픽때 욱일기를 사용한다는 것은 올림픽을 정치적 선전 목적으로 이용한 1936년 독일 베를린 올림픽을 재현하겠다는 것입니다
일본 정부는 2020년 도쿄 올림픽때 욱일기를 사용하는 것이 ‘정치적 선전’이 아니라고 주장하지만
일본의 침략 전쟁으로 엄청난 고통과 피해를 입은 한국인들은 도저희 받아들일수 없습니다.
무엇보다 한국인은 올림픽 정신을 훼손한 가장 부끄러운 역사로 기록된 독일 나찌의 베를린 올림픽이 21세기 도쿄 올림픽을 통해 재현되는것을 막고자 합니다.

Please ban the use of the Rising Sun Flag when cheering for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the global peace festival!
‘No kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas.’
Section 2 of Article 50 of the Olympic Charter -
Do you remember the Olympic Games that left the most disgraceful blot in the history of the Olympics?
It is the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.
The Nazi Adolf Hitler tried to tell the world the physical superiority of the Aryan race through the 1936 Berlin Olympics that there is no wonder for the German Nazi to dominate the entire world.
The Nazi aimed to be exonerated of from their racism and militarism. They also tried to exploit the Berlin Olympic Games as a political propaganda to rationalize the invasion of neighboring countries.
World citizens today recall the Berlin Olympics as the most disgraceful Olympic Games and as the one that was abused as a political propaganda.
At the site of the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games was the Hakenkreuz, the symbol of Nazi militarism.

The 1936 Berlin Olympics which is remembered as the world’s most shameful history of undermining the spirit of the Olympics is being revived with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics?
The Japanese government is trying to make the 2020 Tokyo Olympics a militaristic propaganda as it was in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
Recently, the Japanese government has approved the use of the Rising Sun Flag when cheering for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
On September 2019, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee has announced that the Rising Sun Flag has been used broadly throughout Japan and does not include any political significance.
Japan’s Olympic minister, Hashimoto Seiko also approved the use of the Rising Sun Flag on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Rising Sun Flag is the Japanese Self-Defense Forces’ flag and is the symbol of Japanese imperialistic war of aggression.
Because of the Japanese imperialistic invasion a hundred years ago, Japan’s Rising Sun Flag is like Hakenkreuz, the Nazi militarist symbol, for Asian people including Korean and Chinese.
In 1870, the Japanese Army has designated the Rising Sun Flag as their army flag!
In 1889, the Japanese Navy has labeled the Rising Sun Flag as a naval ensign!
The Sino-Japanese War of 1894!
The Russo-Japanese War of 1904!
Colonization of Korea in 1910!
The Manchurian Incident in 1931!
Up to the Pacific War by Japan invading Asian countries from 1941 to 1945!
The Japanese military had put up the Rising Sun Flag in front and invaded Asia, including Korea, China, and Southeast Asia!
From 1910 to 1945, the Japanese imperialism colonized Korea forcibly in particular, imprisoned the entire Korean peninsula, tortured and murdered to destroy Koreans’ will to independence.
Japanese imperialism has seized the human and material resources of the Korean peninsula and trampled down the Korean language and culture and greatly damaged it.
Japanese imperialism extended the war across the Asia-Pacific beyond the Korean Invasion, and committed numerous war crimes, murders, tourture, sexual slavery, rape, terrorism, exploitation and infringed upon human rights.
Japanese imperialistic invasion killed more than 20 million lives.
Japan’s Rising Sun Flag is the military flag that was used during Japanese imperialistic invasion.
So for Asian people like Koreans, the Rising Sun Flag is the same war crime flag as the Nazi’s Hakenkreuz.
In European countries like France and Poland, which were invaded by the German Nazis during the Second World War, the use of the Nazi’s Hakenkreuz pattern is forbidden by law.
European nations prohibit the use of the Nazi Hakenkreuz pattern and if violated, one will be strongly punished.
But unlike Germany, which completely cleared off the Nazi Germany, the complete liquidation of Japan, which caused the same imperialistic invasion, is not clearly finished yet.
Japan still uses the Rising Sun Flag as their Self-Defense Force’s flag after the defeat in 1945.
In 1954, Japanese Ground and Maritime Self-Defense Forces designated the Rising Sun Flag as their symbolic flag.
Koreans are outraged by the Japanese government’s use of the Rising Sun Flag without genuine apology and responsible behavior about their imperialistic invasion.
Above all, the Japanese government is trying to use the Rising Sun Flag in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
What if Germany were to host the Olympic Games in 2020, and announced to the international community that it would allow Hakenkreuz which were used by the Nazis in the 1936 Olympics, what would the citizens of European countries who were affected by Nazi Germany’s massacre and biological experimentations feel?
How would the world citizens who had suffered under the Nazi Hakenkreuz react to the situation?
It is the same shock and anger of what Koreans felt when the Japanese government announced the use of the Rising Sun Flag in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Japanese government has been concealing the fact that the Rising Sun Flag was used in the process of carrying out invasive war crimes.
As the Hakenkreuz represents the extreme totalitarian fascism for Europeans, the Rising Sun Flag is also the symbol of extreme fascism used in Japanese imperialism.
Therefore, the Japanese government’s decision to use the Rising Sun Flag in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is reproducing the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where the Olympics were used for political propaganda.
The Japanese government insists that using the Rising Sun Flag does not include ‘political propaganda’, but Koreans who have suffered tremendous pain and damage from the Japanese invasion cannot accept it.
Most importantly, Koreans want to prevent the revival of German Nazi’s Berlin Olympics, which violated the Olympic spirit and is recorded as the most shameful in Olympics history, from happening again in the 21st century Tokyo Olympics.
