The only problem of reverse discrimination is
that the impacts we expected occur excessively. Because of excessive protection
for minority who are being discriminated, the damages which go beyond the
limits makes the majority unbearable following such regulated protection.
Conflicts between a dominant group and minority worsen and the dominant group
who sacrificed themselves shows complaints of reverse discrimination. As
aforementioned, the policy of gender equality also can be taken as a typical
example.
Also, the other problems of such
inequality is that the benefits that minority receive are given for groups, not
individuals. There is a possibility of getting an unrevealed special favors.
For instance, recently, a ridiculous incident happened in an international
middle school of Korea. The international middle
school which usually known as extremely high enrollment fee has special favors
for disadvantaged groups in the process of admission. Among the special offers,
there was a selection of giving opportunities to students from low income
families such as single-parent and recipient of basic living families. However,
a grandson of Samsung’s CEO, Lee
gun Hee got accepted to the international middle school with the selection of
disadvantaged group. The reason was that the son of Lee Gun Hee has divorced
and the grandson is in a single-parent family. It is apparent that children of
single mothers or fathers include in the disadvantaged group, however, we can
acknowledge that the aim of this special favor was not for affluent single
parent families.
In order to solve such troubles, what do we
possibly have to do? First of all, when making laws related to discrimination,
the governments of all countries must hold public hearing of both sides. They
can listen to opinions of each side and combine them by making advantageous for
minority and majority. Also, they have make provisions with explicit and
detailed limitations in special offer to refrain from such case of grandson of
Lee Gun Hee. Furthermore, strong measures are required if disadvantages to only
one side occur. For example, when it comes to hiring the disabled in companies,
some corporations tend to pay fine rather than hiring the disabled because the
amount of find is payable. To prevent such situations, government should
increase fines and require companies to follow the regulation.
Because there was discrimination,
communities’ efforts and governments’ policies were made in order to eliminate
inequality in the world. However, ‘reverse discrimination’ appeared with
complaints due to immoderate attention and regulations. Concerns, methods and
rules that excessively overdo will be able to lead to undesirable consequences.
Therefore, we must cooperate to take timely and necessary actions to bring
reverse discrimination under control.
